I love a lip stain – they are totally up my street as they give a look that appears low maintenance, natural, at one with the face (if you know what I mean) and basically just so damn pretty!
The good news is that they have moved on from the tricky-to-apply nail polish style bottles that dry super fast (you know the one I mean!). These new long wearing tints range from sheer washes to strong liquid lipstick in matt, velvety or glossy finishes in tubes, chubby sticks and wands.
MAKE SURE YOUR LIPS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION FIRST….…… as there is no hiding dry flakey lips with a stain. Apply Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream (the original formula, don’t bother with the lip adaptations) at night. It’s also nice to put a tiny bit of cream highlighter on the cubits bow with this look.
5 OF THE BEST:
Becca Beach Tint: A very sheer velvety wash that almost invisibly enliven the lips – great on cheeks too. Perfect for the handbag. You can’t go wrong if subtle is what you’re are after.
Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain: Stain and balm. Subtle and easy.
L’Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash: Not as matt as the others with a touch of shine. Bonne is a great natural shade.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Lip Stain: It feel gorgeous and is a mix between a gloss and a stain. One coat and blot for a matt stain or for intensity and a little gloss add a second coat.
Dior Addicts Fluid Stick: This is the ultimate hybrid lip colour – is it a balm, is it a gloss, is it a stain or is it just a liquid lipstick….no, it’s everything rolled into one – and it works. Love 869 Vie d’enfer.
