……enhancing your face! I’m not particularly into make up rules, especially stupid rules around age appropriateness, but our features, skin tone and skin texture change as we get older and so adapting your make up can be a good idea – and a great excuse to have some fun experimenting.
Here are my guidelines for when you feel your face is changing and your make up needs to step up:
LOVE COLOUR: Let blush be your best friend, especially cream blush. And if you have always felt lipstick isn’t for you – try again! Whether it be a gorgeous bold red or a tinted lip balm. Only thing to avoid would be harsh or dark colours if your lips are particularly thin.
CHAMPION THE EYEBROWS : They can become sparse as we get older, or, if like me you over plucked in the ’90’s (!) then give them a bit of attention. Filling in and enhancing the arch will lift the face.
DON’T OVER POWDER: A dewy complexion expresses healthiness, so moisturise well and just use powder where needed.
UNDER EYE CONCEALER: Use it. Enough said.
DEFINE WITH EYELINER: Kohl has no age limit! Keep it thicker on the top than the bottom lashes but don’t be afraid to be bold.
