PROBLEM: So you have your favourite make up products you can’t live without BUT none of them contains any SPF. Or maybe you’re like me and you don’t quite trust that your tinted moisturiser with SPF is really going to protect you from the sun. You slather on the same sunscreen you put on your body but your face ends up looking greasy and having an oily shine all day, plus your make up doesn’t seem to last as long – what do you do?
SOLUTION: There are some great sunscreens designed for the face out there. They are lightweight and non greasy, some are mattifying or have a powdery finish to prevent shine. They are best applied before make up and then during the day you can rub the liquid into the palms of your hands and pat it over your make up. In summer, skin is often less dry so consider changing to a more lightweight moisturiser or, like me, skip moisturiser all together in the summer and just use a serum. This will mean your make up will last longer and avoid the greasy face problem or having to put on too much powder to counter act all the liquid products.
SUMMARY: You don’t need to buy new beauty products with SPF in them every summer, instead try a lightweight sunscreen specific for the face with mattifiying qualities.
